Hard News Story:

A young man fatally crashed his motorcycle Monday morning on E Busch Blvd and N. 17th Street, Tampa.

Jarrett Gretebeck, 21, of 2918 North Blvd, apparently lost control of his motorcycle after hitting the brakes, making him the 14th motorcycle accident fatality this year. Unfortunately, even though he was wearing a helmet, it didn’t serve to be enough to save his life.

Police are investigating the cause of the accident to ensure Gretebeck’s death was due to the drivers inability to control the motorcycle and not a hit and run.

“At this time, no physical evidence has been uncovered that indicates that another vehicle was involved,” officials stated. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 813-276-3440.

To avoid traffic congestion, people are asked to avoid the area of the scene while the investigation is in place. All eastbound lanes of Busch Boulevard are closed between Nebraska Avenue and 18th Street.

Motorcycle fatalities within the City of Tampa have reached significant highs this year compared to the previous year, Tampa police claimed. Police’s calls on fatal motorcycle accidents have quadrupled in the past year.
